Yeah, Justin, I guess that's always the bottom line. Never having negotiated price on a brand new model like the X1, I wondered if that would be a sort of "special circumstance" that would negate the possibility of working a deal near or at invoice.

Supply and demand will dictate price. Make an offer you can live with...if its too low they will let you know. Again, its how far you are willing to go to get THE DEAL.

I sort of ignore the supply:demand quotient. If I have a car available, and the buyer is a Bimmerfest member, well, I make them a deal
worthy of the name "Internet Special". That's how this website came to be. Well, a big part of it anyway... The only models that would not fall into that category right now are M5/M6/X6 (so-called "halo" cars)... To me, X1 is just a piece of metal (not to denigrate BMWs). I am not so proud of any of them so as to pass up an opportunity to meet and assist a member of my site with their acquisition... The only other caveat is that they must be willing to travel to Santa Barbara to take delivery due to the intrinsic/subjective reward for me to meet them face-to-face. It's just not the same (for me) without the personal contact. Relatively speaking, our Center is small when compared to the big city "metro" BMW Centers. I am a little inhibited by availability at times..

I'd think $500 over invoice to be fair. For those denigrating the X1 vs X5, I'd suggest they drive both. Make sure you drive the X Drivee version and not the S Drive, as the X Drive has proper hydraulic (ie, not the numb electric crap on the 3 and 5 series) steering. It's a SPECTACULAR car that handles beautifully (and this is coming from someone whose daily drivers are an M Roadster and a Carrera S).
