Oil light flicker

I have an 84 318i and my oil light started Blinking. It only blinks when I'm stopped at a light or stop sign when it start driving it turns off. I recently changed the oil oil filter and air filter is also changed the oil pressure switch. Is this something major or a simple fix?

The manual says it is normal as long as the light turns off when you push the throttle. Same thing would happen to mine after an oil change. Can't say why.

With thicker oil fixing it sounds like it may be the bearing clearances...

Is the wire shorting out at idle? Pull the wire and tape it next to the connector (first one side then the other) for a day or so. If it still flickers it's a short problem - if not just engine or oil pump rebuild.

Pull off the sender wire. Tape it back on the sender but without malkng an electrical connection. The oil light will be off. If it still flickers when the engine is at idle then the wire is shorting to earth somewhere. You may have to try it on each side of the terminal to be sure. If that test does not bring the light on then you are in for a rebuild of either the oil pump, engine or both..

assuming it was not doing this before you changed the oil I would be checking you have the right oil filter and pressure switch. Maybe the brand of oil filter is not allowing enough flow? but should be fine if it is a main brand.
