01 740i - Good Indy shop in NC?

I need to have major work done to my 01 740i. Check engine light came on, timing chain work needs to be done. 1st quote $3200. Can I find a better deal?

I would get a full diagnostic from BMW ($99-$120) and find out EVERYTHING that is wrong with the car. Then ask what parts (along with part numbers) are needed for the diagnostic listings. Then on your own go online and find prices for theparts for which every job you'll tackle first. The quote you got sounds worst than a [ST]ealership would charge

re

The Stealer-ship's are unbelievable at how much they RIP you for parts, Even Indie shops in my opinion do the same. OEM Bimmer parts is the way to go I was quoted $1900.00 by an Indie shop and $2500.00 by the dealership for the 8 rear suspension parts ( upper lower control arms, ball joints, etc. ) bought them at oem for $590.00 all Lemforder ( oem BMW ).

Thanks fellas. I got a diagnostics test done. Code p00111 "Camshaft position timing over-advanced Bank 1...suspect that hydrolic chain tensioner has lost tension causing slack in the chain" I need to verify this is in fact the case and will proceed. I miss my ride! I will keep you posted

Timing chain job is estimated for 25h of work. It could be done in less than 20, but this is what shops are working around. This is what AllData and Mitchell estimates.
