I think the BMW (certainly the one I have is "no-name").

At least, in my past cars when I've had Bose, or Karmon Hardon, there have been little stickers to state the name. My current X3 has no such stickers, and I have the "upgraded" stereo.

It's certainly very punchy / can handle the loud volume well, but I have gone back on my initial observations of it being just as good as my old merc HK. It just seems to be missing a little quality for me (but I suspect it's much better than standard).

I think there are other threads on this, in particular post-purchase retrofits you might be interested in.

Yeah, my two previous 335's had the HK but this one says nothing. I even noticed that when I took delivery and asked my sales guy and of course he didn't know and just gave me a pat answer of "well it's got 16 speakers!".

It definitely rocks but I'm not certain it's as good as my previous HKs. There is also the issue of an extremely different cabin. But all in all I'm not unhappy with it. And I am certain it's much more dynamic than standard sound.

Good sound

I'm not sure what brand it is, but I am pleasantly surprised by the lack of distortion at high volumes. It does pretty well with CD and mp3 sources.

It does an OK job with Sattelite and FM sources, but I think it is just a case of garbage-in-garbage-out.
