Black Panel Display on X3 F25

To my surprise I discovered that Black Panel Display only comes with the Nav option. I feel cheated, as I am taking delivery of my non Nav fitted X3 in August. The BPD would have been nice.

Instead of taking something you don't like it, don't you have option to cancel the order and place fresh order.

It takes 3 months for a X3 to get to South Africa. I will live with the pain

3 months pass by quickly.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is Black Panel Display?

He means the Navigation Screen.

I thought all X3 came with the screen (Black Panel Display ;-). The only difference being that the professional sat nav has a larger screen, versus the standard (6"?) screen which, even if you don't have even the basic nav, displays the car menu etc...

Black panel display is the extended LCD in the instrument cluster. See writeup below.

Ahhh - nice update, thanks. Now I know :-)

Yes - that BPD is quite nice if you get the brightness settings right.

Even better is the HUD, I just wish they would put some more thought in to the HUD to stop that dammed tunnelling effect when sun shines on the HUD emitter.

I thought Black Panel Display was necessary for the the display of the regenerative braking info if you have the latter as in option. In South Africa regenerative braking is standard.

I can confirm, if you do NOT take the prof nav then you don't get black panel display. Here is a pic from my 5 day old x3 that had no nav but has brake regen.

I thought the same and hadn't realized this when I ordered my X3 2 weeks ago : so when you have Nav and BPD, the instruments or "dials" are all virtual or numeric ?? I'd like to see side by side pics of an X3 with and without. I've looked on both BMW Canada and USA web sites and found little info on this topic...
