Do it!

But you should also consider blacking out the finisher rods (the silver/grey wing things next to the fog lights.) See my pics in this thread:

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=617153

On the GT it was no big deal to do. They pull right off and I painted them with Testers flat black model spray paint. I really like the look.

I think it depends somewhat on the color of the car. I do think the M5 style (chrome surround, black bars) looks the best - I've been thinking about that for my car - if and when the dealer admits they have it and invites me down to "haggle"

On my GT they just pull off and you can paint them. Clean them up with dish soap and water rinse REAL GOOD and let them dry. A couple of coats of testor's flat black model enamel pop them back in and you're good to go.

I have not actually tried this on an F10 and there is a hard plastic divider between the lower grill sections on the F07 that is not on there on the F10. But they are just held in place by push clips so you should be able to tell pretty quick if they are easy to take off and put back.

Thanks... actually taped off front of car and fender and used "Plasti Dip" Black and sprayed with a couple fof coats and done. matches perfect in my opinion with the grill work below. You can find the spray can at your local hardware store.

Also used it on the kidney grill's total cost with blue tape, paper and can. $20 and your time which took about an hour but i let dry for a day.

good luck.

Black out for lighter color cars.

Leave them chrome/silver for darker color cars.

Contrast is good.

Both look great to me. But I'm slightly more biased to having some contrast, but to each their own.

At the dealer now in their lounge while they install the OEM M5 grills (chrome surround with glossy black slats). i'll post pics tonight. Stoked to see how it turns out. All black on my black car with tinted windows seemed a little much for me. I didn't want to look like an old dude trying too hard to be 20something, although the murdered out look certainly looks cool.

Looking forward to seeing the pics. I also have Carbon Black with 35% tint and been on the fence on which direction to go. I don't want all black grill.
