Sometimes people go out of their ways to avoid being viewed in the same light as seniors, because they suspect people do view them that way from time to time. It is a paradox.

That's a matter of personal opinion, the point is, what's next? Sooner or later they will run out of shapes.

At least Audi has the guts to open up the bass mouth even more.

The individual LED's have been copied so much by a lot of manufacturers that Audi has decided to go with a solid light bar pattern instead on all their vehicles. Each car now has its own design pattern to match the car.

This is the facelifted 2013 R8, didn't like it at first like the new lights on the new A4/S4's, but it is definitely growing on me. Looks much better when you see it driving down the road.

Yeah, who wants classy, historical, brand-identifying design in their premium European car. Make it look like a completely different thing with every iteration. Those dumb coronas have been around for over a decade.......since way before any other automaker introduced anything like them.

It works me thinks. The designers realize that one shape will not always work on every model. Different shape, outlines, and stance of a car needs another element to balance it. Each manufacturer has it's signature look and there's nothing wrong with either. I like the kidney grill just as much because it is distinct. You look at the car and you know it's a BMW or Audi.

Just my opinion, but I utterly hate the massive grill design Audi has adopted. I have hated it from the very beginning and I hate it on every single model.

I like BMW's DTM half corona look. Makes it more modern with an edge.

Getting back on topic though regarding the ATS, the vertical light bar connecting through the fogs doesn't look that bad:

hmmm....Don Butler seems to know something about Cadillac I've missed. I've been a car nut since I was a very little kid with a collection of over 100 Hot Wheels cars that I took everywhere, yet somehow I didn't know that Cadillac was ever "cool". I just can't remember a single instance of anyone ever saying, "wow, that Caddy is so cool! That's what I want for my sixteenth birthday, so my high school buds will see how cool I am."

I'm on your side and know that value is not found in a BMW. The deal comes from haggling with your sales person for invoice to bring it closer to its competitors. If you look at the invoice and msrp diff on a BMW vs that of another premium automaker, there is a bigger margin gap in the BMW.

Not as a kid or a young adult. With that said, times have changed and companies evolve and rebuild their identity. I'm not there yet with Cadillac, but in the last few years they have caught my eye as a serious player. I sat in a co-worker's CTS and I was impressed at the refinement and ride. It felt very much like a German car than anything American. It doesn't share the same platform as any other gm cars and the level of luxury surpasses that of any entry lvl German car I know. Leather wrapped surfaces is a nice touch with contrasting stitching. I would consider an ATS-V version if in the market for a new sports sedan.
