Outside of this forum who would ever speak of BMW as a prestigious brand or a brand that indicates wealth? Never met such a person. Traveled all over the US, worked on projects throughout this country and the world. BMW is just another car throughout this country (and especially outside the USA where it has no brand cache) but on the forums it's somehow this brand that indicates wealth or importance. Sorry but there are plenty of BMWs sitting in carports leased by customer support reps - I've had some working for me. Vehicles like the Explorer and Grand Cherokee sell over 120k units a year and for average prices over 35k. The Lexus RX, Lexus' volume seller, moved about 90k units last year at an average price over 40k. Is anyone walking around crowing about the RX as a sign of wealth?

The fact that you think you need to be in the top 0.1% to have any prestige just shows that you're way off base. That's fine if you think that way, but for the vast majority of the country, showing up at work in a new $50k car makes you look wealthy. Not super rich, just wealthy. Whether it's deceiving or not isn't the point.

Our CEO drives a 335d, most expensive car in the parking lot. (he also has a Ducati) And this is a high-tech company, not a Walmart.

Turns out that trophy kids are more important than a trophy wife and my kids fit that bill perfectly.

So, the answer to your question, it was 90% future earnings potential and 10% physical appearance.

I've got angels.....and the widescreen LCD too.....I didn't realize that if I didn't check those boxes the renderings would be inaccurate. I'll go check that out now.

All watches have become way overpriced in the last 10 years. But, the stainless Rolexes are still a bargain for what you get as compared to most of the other "high end" brands.

They were also very good investments. I bought my first, a GMT Master in gold/SS in 1979 for $1,925 and sold it last year for $4,700. Same thing for a watch I had bought for my father which I sold after he passed away two years ago.

The GMT Master II is a tool for me.

It's for Mary Kay ladies.

This is just a rendering, but I would be interested in seeing the ATS-V version. American's are not known for restraint and they'll probably drop the ZR-1 engine in there.
