ED trip report June 23 -> July 7

What a great trip!!

One fun thing we did was to take the I.C.E. train from Frankfurt to Munich. Almost too relaxing but we enjoyed the scenery.

We left Munich in our awesome new car whcih was able to get us wherever we wanted to go with its nifty navigation system.

We stayed at the Gasthaus Kugelmühle outside of Berchtesgaden. It was relaxing drinking in their beergarden watching this incredible marble ball rotating on a thin film of water. The ball and many smaller ones were milled there. . . .

We saw a lot of wonderful scenery both on and off a boat ride at Königssee.

Phenomenal drive which deserves its populairty among motorists. . . .

Nice weather, a river running along a promende and unbelievable gardens at Trattmansdorff castle. Merano has a lot to offer. Did I mention the food?

When we couldn't get a room on Lindau we booked in Nonnenhorn (12 minues by train from Lindau.) We were happily surprised to find that it was a town full of gardens, fresh (and distilled) fruit with a couple of excellent restaurants as well. My Mom is still talking about the strawberries and cherries. (rest area on the A81 headed towards Hiedelberg)

The last three days of our trip were spent in Heidelberg. We sayed at Hotel Holländerhof which was a historical pink building right by the Alte Brücke. Spent a relaxing day enjoying a boat ride on the Neckar.

All too soon it was time to turn the car in and head for home.
