Northeast Fall Foliage Run - October 26/27 2012.

I am putting together a Fall Foliage Run in Northwest Connectut on October 26,27.

The event will include drives on some beautiful rural New England Roads and visits to Lime Rock Park and the American Mural Project.

Details are in this thread over in the E9x forum.

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=630018

If you F30 guys can put up with hanging out with a bunch of low status old car owners we would love to have you join us.

This is starting to come together. I spoke to Ellen Ellen Griesedieck (Sam Posey's wife) and she will open up the mill in Winsted for us on Sunday and give us a special tour of the Wall of America in the mill building in Winsted.

http://www.wallofamerica.org/

This is not something you will want to miss. I took this photo in Ellen's studio last March and you can get an idea of the scale and the quality of the artwork that is going into this project.

The painting on the right is of the Mustang assembly line at Ford.

I am working on the other details and could use some help planning the route etc. PM me if you would like to attend or to help put the event together.

It's great to hear Sam Posey's name. What a nice man ! Met him years ago , when he lived in Capistrano Beach California ( South Orange County) . He was driving Indy Cars. This was in the early'70s. Drove by his house , and he was in his garage . We stopped by , and chatted for a while. He could not have been friendlier !! Of course we then had to buy his Book Mudge Pond Express ! His book was so entertaining . Give he and his wife our best ! He is an excellent Color Man on Auto Racing !

It's too early for me to commit at this point, but I will try to work this in... sounds like fun! The last time I came up there for a CT road trip I had a great time. And the Mrs. EdCT goodie bags were awesome!

Sam is a very nice guy and truly a Renaissance Man. He has had sucessful careers as a race driver, journalist, artist and architect.

The Mudge Pond Express is out of print and very hard to find. I was able to obtain a copy and get Sam to sign it and it was a hot item at the Climb to the Clouds 4 charity auction. DSXMachina was the winning bidder.

Sam is also an avid model railroader and we also auctioned off several signed copies of his book "Playing With Trains".

These are a couple of pictures I took of the layout the Sam built in the basement of his home in Connecticut.

The bottom picture shows a prank that Sam pulled on his friend Paul Newman. Note the Newman's Own building in the center of the bottom picture. Sam and Paul were good friends and Sam's wife Ellen designed a lot of the artwork for the Newman's Own brand. If you look closely you can see that there is some vile looking polution being released into the stream. In back of the building there is a graveyard for the employees that died testing new flavors.

I have arranged for a block of rooms at the Wake Robin Inn in Lakeville, Ct, which is about 5 minutes from Lime Rock and about a 7 hour drive for you.

http://www.wakerobininn.com/

I will be going up Friday afternoon and heading home Sunday, We will probably schedule the tour of The American Mural Project for late morning Sunday so everyone can get an early start home.

tempting captain, but logistical reasons such as kids, dog, work (I am talking off the last two weeks in August, 10 days at Xmas, and a week next Spring) put a damper on things. Still I will keep this in mind, keep us informed.

I read this aloud to my wife, she laughed.

That was a fun day, four years ago already ... wow ...
