Practice I, they visibly weren't pushing it. Practice II, they were, and for some reason things seemed slick - even the guys who didn't spin were wobbling in the corners. I don't think this practice means a whole lot. Good for Schumi that it doesn't.

Well, Sato managed to qualify since you can't really hit anyone in that process, so the stage is set for a decent race. I wonder what sort of blocking strategy the F******* boys have in store.

Why block if you're the fastest? Just go out and

MS 2-stopper, RB 3-stopper, one block while the other guy's in the pits. Easy.

There was a significant difference between qualifying and pre-qualifying times. When the fuel load rule goes out of the window, it will make a difference. Button was on fi-yah in pre-qual. Of all things, Da Matta was smokin' in the final practice before pre-qual. This will be an interesting race.

Trulli's car was going well all weekend, and then come qualifying, his mechanics had to push him halfway down pit lane (I wondered if they were going to push the whole way around the track?). Behind Zsolt is not a good place to start.

A hopeful prediction

Turn 1 tomorrow Sato takes out both Ferraris and both BARs and the 2 Williams cruise to victory.

I want to see someone out-and-out beat MS. I kinda wish he hadn't run into the wall at Monaco; I would have liked to see him end two down with no excuses.

We saw it just a couple of races ago.

But MS didn't seem to want to see it to the end.

I some pics for you in the other thread.

Hey, if I were to race in Monaco, I'd leave the race early too. The Casino and the boats (including blondes) are much more interesting

*Alex goes to the other thread for pics*

Button broke it more, but it was during practice.

Reaction to Q2 from BMW Motorsport

Quote:
In the all-important second qualifying for the US Grand Prix, Juan Pablo Montoya and Ralf Schumacher took fifth and sixth positions, making it an all blue-and-white third row.

In both parts of the back-to-back qualifying sessions, the BMW WilliamsF1 Team pairing confirmed the team’s upward trend, recently demonstrated in Canada.

In pre-qualifying, Juan Pablo crossed the line in 1:09.824 minutes, with Ferrari’s Rubens Barrichello (1:09.454 minutes) the only man able to beat the Colombian. Juan Pablo’s team-mate, Ralf, was only fractions slower (1:10.003 minutes) finishing fifth, one-thousandth of a second behind fourth-placed B.A.R. driver, Takuma Sato (1:10.002 minutes), and eight hundredth behind Toyota’s Olivier Panis in third place.

For the second session, the BMW WilliamsF1 Team’s strategists decided that the drivers should lap the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on a heavier load of fuel, therefore, they couldn’t quite match their times of the previous session. Nevertheless, Ralf Schumacher (1:11.106 minutes) and Juan Pablo Montoya (1:11.062 minutes) qualified a promising fifth and sixth, with the latter being the faster of the two drivers.

“Currently, I’m not quite sure if we can be happy with our qualifying result,” said BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen. “Here at Indianapolis, fuel strategy is a true key factor and we will have to wait until tomorrow to see who has gone out on what fuel load. I think we are in a position to battle against the B.A.R.s, but when it comes to Ferrari I’m not so sure if a different strategy has enabled them to achieve their fast lap times.”

Ferrari's #2 driver should have slammed the door on Spoonface when he had the chance ...

Anyway, re-runs of Melrose Place start in 13 minutes. At least there is something worth watching before the Spain-Portugal kickoff.

Have a nice race.

The intrigue of Dr Michael Mancini is much more interesting than Formula Spoonface.
