New battery issue

I've tried to replace my battery and when I use the new battery the car lights won't even turn on but when I put the old battery back in the lights work...what is the problem with the new battery on why it will not work at all?

You need to register it good indy or inpa etc the question is
Did you register the battery to the car? Your car will act funny if you have not...

Search my friend... After you hook a new battery up obd cable and software from pc ;INPA and register or tool32 and register or brg to a good german indy or ask the dealer to do it.
If you replaced your battery and the car has no power at all something is wrong, if thats what you meant
Bmw has done a lot to keep even the simplest of things such as changing the battery; undoable by people unless they have the software and know-how.

That is strange. Id be careful with the battery make sure the battery is connected right first then you should look at what battery you bought at auto zone they offered two types but one was definitely a lead calcium and one was agm. If leaving it disconnected and reconnecting after some time doesn't help keep in mind the possibility of getting a dead battery. Ive heard of weird problems but not no crank issues

Ok I have the platinum and you said just disconnect the whole thing then connect it back and lights and everything should come on, and the car will also finally crank and have power?

Wouldnt an Unregistered battery still work, just give a bunch of codes (but still crank)? He's not getting ANYTHING, must be another issue, wouldnt ya say?

+ 1/2- I think it depends on what state the power module is left in. If the car thinks the battery is dead, it may not work.

Thats why i posted this ^^^
At first i didnt understand what he was saying but he was saying nothing at all is happening when he puts in the new battery which sounds like the battery isnt good if the old battery gives power and the new one doesnt

I changed my battery with the superstart AGM one from oriley's just yesterday...no problems. It was very simple. First thing...there is a battery "on/off" switch at the top of the fuse box above where the battery is. I turned that off. I then removed the negative terminal (10 mm socket). I was told (by indy BMW mech) to be very careful with the positive terminal because there is a fuse or something for the ABS system and you don't want it to arc. removed the spare tire and the little "foot holder" for the battery (13mm socket) and slid the battery out. Inserted new battery and did everything in reverse...don't forget to put the switch back to on. Started up and ran just fine. Make sure the connections on the terminal are tight. Also before i left the store I had them check the battery state of charge...it was only at 76%. I told them I wasn't taking the battery until it was 100% charged. Took like 45 min for it to charge to 100%. I'm going back today to have them check the state of charge to make sure the car is doing what it is supposed to. Now about registering the battery...had the same indy BMW mech tell me that registering the battery is really just to tell the computer when the batter was last changed and has nothing at all to do with charging algorithm, etc. I don't know who to believe but he seemed very confident of his assesment.

Yes that is right, that's what he has going on now and that's why the battery needs to be program as well because the other battery still has the memory of the car
