Paris drop off: how long did it take before you got on a boat?

How did you get any info from them? My car dropped off on July 27 is nowhere to be found according to BMW ED department

Hey Stonemik,

I dropped off last Monday, 8/6/2012. Odd that yours is still not on a ship...

I emailed infoCDG@ttroissy.net and provided my dropoff date, name, model, VIN, and license plate. They replied with a quick email:

"Hello,

Your car is on our park.

TTCAR ROISSY"

Called BMWED again. Told there was nothing after the dropoff at CDG in the file. She made a few calls with me listening in to get more info as needed. WWS said they would hand search. Took a while but they found Waldo in Bremerhaven not checked in. Found by license number and description. It will be on the Don Juan leaving on the 24th. But for some reason I'm not holding my breath.

My car is supposed to be on the Don Juan too. I am annoyed that it will have taken 22 days from my drop off in Nice to shipping over to the US. Although that is a far cry from one month for Stonemik.

I think this one place that BMW could improve the process, especially since if you bought the car and not leased it, you will have made payments on the car for nearly 2 months without driving it. I guess that's the downside of ED. My situation is further messed up since my car was totaled during a hail storm. I'll have to get rental for at least a month now. UGGHH.

Hailstorm????? O.M.G. When did it happen? where? how did you find out??? My time issue pales in comparison... I'm in shock!

Go to this link, scroll down a little and click on All Users under Track and Trace and enter in your VIN under the cargo ID. If you are worried that you didn't type it in correctly, drop the last 4 digits and place a % which is a wildcard, and it will pull up everything starting with that VIN.

I was in Lakewood shopping center on June 6th or so when we experienced a massive hail storm that totaled my car. Due to some work travel, insurance rental car and ED trip, I have only had to rent a car one week out of pocket. That's going to change starting next week. Good thing insurance gave me great money for my old car.

Thanks for the alternate search tip. I tried that no luck. Sorry to hear about your car. I remember that storm - was horrible. Thankfully we didn't get any of that on Sunnyvale.

By the way anyone know he mmsi for the correct Don Juan? Seems like a popular name for a ship.

My car was in Bremerhaven on August 14th and unfortunately missed the boat on the 15th, so "only" 12 days to get to port and 11 days to ship.

I think BMW or the shipping company should prioritize ED cars so that they get on ships asap and back to their owners. I would complain to BMW that it took more than one month to get your car on a boat. That is ridiculous.

Just got an update from BLG (another thread had two emails to contact)... they mentioned that I would be on the Tristan sailing 8/25/2012. If that's the case, it would be 19 days from dropoff to out of port, which seems to be about average around here.

The truth of the matter is, if you're primary concern is the shortness of redelivery, then Munich should be your drop off point. Drive anywhere you want in Europe, but drive the car back to Munich - or leave it there. Anything else is a crapshoot due to the variables.

As of this morning, my car finally arrived and was checked into WWL. and will be on Don Juan leaving on the 24h. According to the email I just got from BMW ED. (still no word from TT on any of the past 3 emails)

So July 27 to August 22nd to get to Bremerhaven.

According to the call, my car has seen a great deal of Europe. Not sure what that means. But will never drop off anywhere but Munich anymore. Glad I took a picture of the mileage when I dropped it off.

That's interesting, wonder what the story behind that it is. I hope both our cars make the Don Juan and then quickly to Texas once it gets dropped off in Brunswick.

Do what I did, call BMW ED and just ask where the #3!! it is. I hope you are on the Don Juan as well! I didn't trust them so I checked WWL website and it was indeed checked in at the port just today.

I am booked on the Don Juan, but I was also initially booked on the Asian Vision which left on the 15th, guess I just missed that boat... will cry if I don't make this one.

Does Lufthansa still use the combi 747s? I remember in the '80s that some people would ship their cars back to the US via Lufthansa's planes.

Ours was just a single level but the economy class legroom was better than AA and they served the best airline food in economy that I've every had -including complementary wine!

We flew Lufthansa from Boston on a new Airbus and were very impressed. Much better than the return flight on Swissair.

Just checked WWL and saw the following status:

Once the ship leaves, I can stop checking WWL for about 10 days and migrate on over to MarineTraffic.com....

It's going to be a long month...
