Fuel Consumption Feedback Please - '10 35d

Good day all!

Just traded in our 2010 X3 3.0 for a 2010 X5 35d. The X5 has 85k Kms, serviced regularly at BMW and was certified series when I bought it.

I've only had her for a couple of weeks but I'm concerned about the fuel economy. Driving 115 km/h for 2.5h with cruise set on the highway I could barely pull 9.3 l/100. I expected I would be low 8s. I reset the fuel economy a few times and never would it get below 9.

Today I was driving in 60 and 80 km/h zones and kept within 10 km/h of the posted limit, used cruise and still couldn't get below 9.

City economy, driving non aggressive is pulling low 11s.

I did not expect to get the same economy that I was gettin in my x3.

Does this seem to normal to you? Appreciate any suggestions and feedback anyone can provide. Perhaps my expectations were too high, maybe it's bad fuel, maybe it's an inaccurate gauge, not sure.

Thank you Bimmerfest!

9.3 l per 100 km is 25.4 mpg. Sounds a bit low to me, I get about 27 mpg at 71 mph (115 kmh).

Have you checked your tire pressure? I keep mine at 34-35 psi.

It sounds pretty normal to me. The diesel gets good fuel economy for the big and heavy beast it is but 22 in town and 26 on the highway is about normal. I've gotten a little less in town and a touch more on the highway but on average 22/26 is what it is for me YMMV BTW, the consumption appears to be slightly better now that my car has 10K miles on it.
