55C4 - No Message from DSC

The dreaded 4x4 light came on so I took it in to my local shop. Code reader first gave us a D35B No message (DSC sensor OCB) message. Supposedly the steering angle sensor was bad so it was replaced. Now we're getting the 55C4 error code. Shop tells me the DSC module must be replaced to the tune of $1400. I've searched and found that the DSC/ABS module can be rebuilt for much less and as I think about it, I'd rather go down this road. The module is supposed to be located behind the headlight assembly. So which one? Do I have to remove the bumper to remove the headlight?

Thanks in advance.

DId you ever get anywhere with this? I have a 55C4 code also but nothing appears to be malfunctioning. Car drives great. No dash warnings.

Short answer: No. While I found the DSC module, it's not going to be fun taking it out. You have to open up the brake system and remove the master cylinder in order to access the module located right under it. I'm planning to tackle it this spring. Besides, I need to flush the brake lines anyway.

Finally got tired of looking at the 4x4 light after almost two years. Replaced the DSC module and the 4x4 light was still on. Took it to my indy shop (EC's in Fort Worth) and he pulled code D35B which is where I started from. After searching his resources, he concluded the yaw rate sensor was defective. I replaced it today. Problem solved. No more 4x4 light!
