trunk release

Trunk release suddenly stopped working. Key fob and inside release aren't working. All fuses are good. I don't hear any clicking or solenoid sound. Any ideas?

Central locking....is in the general module.... and it doesn't have fuses. If the doors lock/unlock the fuses are good.

Check the wiring by the trunk hinge, it's prone to chafing and breaking, if that's good

You might try unhooking the battery and turn the headlights on for about 60 sec, that'll drain all residual power in the system, then hook up the battery and with the doors shut, use the key to lock then unlock the trunk, then try the remote. Mine has done this twice since I've owned it....... once the above procedure worked the 2nd time it didn't so I purchased a new general module, installed it and had the same symptoms. put the old module back in did the above procedure and it works again....... don't really know why, but it works.

hey, thanks for the quick response.

my door lock are working with the remote currently except the trunk.

Is this the same problem you having just the trunk lock is not working?

Also, you mention about having door shut to connect the battery is that lock or not lock?

Yes that's the same symptoms I was having. Unlock before shuting the doors......... the only reason I shut them was to make sure that, when I reconnected the battery and locked/unlocked the trunk it would put the locks back in phase. This is just my theory...... I thought that maybe..... the trunk was unlocked and the doors were unlocked, at some point I locked the doors with the key as the remote didn't work all the time etc....... and just aboout that time my battery went dead.... so my doors were locked and the trunk was unlocked....... I replaced the battery and the doors locked/unlocked with the remote but the trunk didn't ..... the rest was in my 1st post. Now I had made sure the wires weren't broken by the trunk hinge, that is a very common problem on these cars.

Well I wouldn't have thought it, athough everyone said that it is a major issue. I finally took the wire boot off and inspected the wires. One was completely severed, and two oher ones were about to fail. I soldered them together, and now everything works.
