X5 sunroof problem

Hello all

My name is Jason.

I am having an issue with a 2005 x5 sunshade for the panoroof. The glass works as it is designed, however when I close the sunshade it only moves about 3 inches and stops. I have to keep pushing the button to get it to close all the way. It opens with one toach however. I have done the reinitializing twice and it has changed nothing. The roof is new as well as the front and rear motors. Any ideas?

Thanks!!!

Jason

May be the installation and a tight fit somewhere, which is preventing the sunshade from moving freely. May work better after repeated movement. Try opening and retracting the shade several times or more with your hand encouraging it, then try it once to see if it moves by itself. If no luck, best you get it seen to.

These moon roofs on x5s are very difficult things to service and extremely costly to replace. I wish my x5 didn't have one, and dread the day when it begins to develop operational faults!

Your sunshade should just need to run through a FULL calibration. Push up on the sunroof/sunshade button (get comfortable it takes several minutes) until it enters a load calibration sequences. Usually the glass starts first then the shade. Don't let off the button until about a minute after every movement has gone through is paces. I think the last movement is when the sun shade closes and opens again. About a 4-5 min process. That should solve it.
