I need to buy replacement parts. Does anyone know the part numbers for shocks and springs? Thanks.

In case you are not aware of this site it is a good one to bookmark: http://realoem.com/bmw/select.do
Unless your springs are broke, really no need to replace. But you will want boots and bearings. |

Have you taken it to a really good suspension shop yet?

No I have not taken it to one yet. A mechanic who worked on my car told me that is what I need. Perhaps I need to find a good suspension shop or a good BMW mechanic.

Looking into US stock the stock springs aren't avaible at this time. I'd suggest going to a Sport Spring from H&R (LINK).
Looking at the shocks, the genuine BMWs are available, HERE is a link to a custom cart with the 4 of them already dropped into it. But looking at costs I'd suggest grabbing a set of Bilstein instead, they come with a lifetime warranty and are considerably cheaper that the stock struts. HERE is a link to them.

You also might check with the e38 section as this is the make of your car.

Be aware that the link from ECS is to the Bilstein B8 which are the Sport/HD and will be significantly stiffer then the stock struts. The Bilstein B4 would be closer to stock if that is what you are looking for. I would still take it to a really, really good suspension shop even if just for an inspection and estimate. Your tire symptoms are not what I would expect from worn struts/shock. Riding low could be a perception but you can check the stock ride height here http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/att...1&d=1300352417

Correct the B8s will be a performance upgrade shock for the E38 and will be stiffer than the stock struts.

I have the B8's on my E38 and like them. Then again it is a shorty sporty so my stock ones where much stiffer then the OP's in the first place. If you can, you might want to offer him the B4 option if he is so inclined. Then again, you are a performance oriented company!
