Automatic Rear Sunshade "Sitting/Click" Sound

Hello Everyone,

I have a 2010 328i with automatic rear sunshade. Everything works fine, yet when the shade is retracted in all the way (no shade/closed position), at the very end of the cycle, the shade clicks pretty loudly. Is this just a normal sound coming from the shade mechanism "Sitting" in place. A friend has a new 5 series with rear auto shade that operate like silk - as did my old MB CLK with no such sounds. Any experience as to whether this is normal or not is appreciated -

Thanks!

Does not sound normal. Is it like this on an M3?

If you are still under warranty, get it handled.

Mine does it--usually any way.
Has since I bought the car new back in 2007. I just assumed this was the normal sound of the thing all these years....

Thanks guys - Good vid as well. I'll try and post a similar video and provide any feed back from the dealer. If there are any similar models with auto screen on the lot, I'll look at those first, so they don't go taking things apart on my request if that noise is "normal".

I have the power shades and they make a bit of a thud when closing. It's normal IMO.

I'm pretty sure it's normal as well, but haven't put my rear shade down in a few years.

vid post

I have posted a video of my shade and sound. I suppose it's normal "?" - But find it strange that for a company that takes so much time in perfecting mechanics/design/engineering - this sound exists. I put this in the same class of "issues" of my headlights that are supposed to be so awesome and all that turn with the car - but also bounces around as if they are loose and cheap like they are mounted on a 70's pickup truck. drives me nuts. Thanks for everyone's input.

Yeah, sounds like mine.

Doesn't mean that both our cars might not have a shade problem though....
