European Delivery Bulletin

I thought I'd share this with you guys...

BMW European Delivery issued a bulletin yesterday and here's the gist of it:

"With European Delivery sales growing so rapidly, it's important to review a couple of issues that may make your customer's European Delivery experience a positive one."

"Delivery Date

The requested and confirmed delivery date should be theACTUAL date of pick up. Increasingly, we are advised by our delivery center that customers state a date on their documents and then show up days later. They say that their dealer told them the this date is not important ...just show up anytime. Please be aware that this is a confirmed date - not an approximate delivery date. BMW gets fined each time a customer does not show up on the date noted on their confirmation letter and purchase order. If a customer must change their date due to an emergency, kindly put it in writing and fax to the European Delivery Dept.

2005 Deliveries

2005 MY 325i/xi and 330i/xi will be available for delivery September 10th. All other 2005 models (except Z4 and X5) will be available for delivery beginning on October 18th.

Drop Off Location Addresses"

Please refer to the BMW website for the most up to date list : www.bmwusa.com/europeandelivery
"Some locatations now require that reservations be made in advance of pick up, and this can be done by calling or emailing the drop off location."

Insurance Extensions

"The Freimann Delivery Center can no longer process insurance extensions so it is extremely important that you confirm with your customer, the number of months of insurance required while you are preparing the European Delivery purchase order. "

Navigation DVD's

"Customers love the all new "All Europe" DVD which is available for those who have a navigation system in their European Delivery vehicle. These DVD's must be ordered in advancec, as the Delivery Center no longer has a boutique that sells them. They also do not have the new DVD's on hand to loan to customers, so they must be ordered in advance by your customer through NavTech at 1-888-628-6277."

"Thank you for your support of European Delivery"

That's because you have a sense of courtesy and common sense that most of the dolts in the USA seem to lack these days. I would have never thought of my pickup day as flexible. In fact, I'm surprised that they don't give appointment windows during the day so as to manage the flow even better.

I wonder if they closed the small shop at the delivery center? Three weeks ago, this is where I bought wheel locks and saw a Europe DVD (marked with a EUR231 price) in a display case.

I am currently waiting to place my ED order for a 545i. I wonder when I can place order to get the 05' model year. Should I wait til after 10/18/04 to order or 3 months before to correspond with the pickup date of 10/18/04?

You should wait until about 2-3 months prior to 10/18 in order to lock up the date. I'd at least have your client advisor fax in your pre-reservation form for the date so that you get priority.

Getting the FIVE? Definitely moving up, Bee. Don't scratch it on the narrow alleys.

Great info. Would you say my 325xiT ED for 21-Sep-04 will be an '05 Model as well?

Cheers!

Patrick

Hmmm, I'd ask your CA to verify that first with the ED dept. because it says "325i/xi" not 325Ci, 325Cic, 325xiT- know what I mean?
