Honda Accord to offer LED headlight in 2013

Honda Accord to offer LED headlight in 2013, I think BMW is falling a bit behind in lighting technology.

I don't know about that...I think its getting a little played out and becoming rather generic looking. Soon Kia will have them too, if not already.
The current angel eyes are classic. Not sure if they will look better in LED, but I guess we will see on the 7er.

You say they are going to a LED headlight. That is not correct. They are going to a LED daytime running light. The BMW has the unique "Angel Eyes" already which I think are unique and damn good looking. BMW offers true LED headlights as an option on the Grand Coupe.

I think this is much ado about nothing.

I re-read the press copy about 5 times. It's hard to tell. They do say "LED daytime running lights, headlights and taillights".

The new Acura RLX has LED headlights. Hmmmmm.

How much heat-output does an LED headlamp put out? This is a serious questions for those of us that live in snow/ice areas. I have no concern regarding my 550.....you could open up your own pizza biz with how much heat that car puts out.

On my 2011 MB ML350 the xenon heat output was so low during a snow storm i lost a lot of vision. I was stunned! I never had this problem with any other BMW with xenons nor Audis.

LED might be nice, but driving on a cold night during a snow storm it isn't pleasant when your healdights cover up and you lose a large amount of visability.

Those sure looks like LED headlights to me guys.

http://wot.motortrend.com/2013-honda...de-243995.html

LED headlights does not put out as much heat as halogen or HID lights and that can be a problem in the winter time, headlight washer can help. Most LED headlights are very bright close up but cannot carry a beam's brightness as far as a HID light can in my opinion.

BMW have been working on these so called laser lights, but implementation still seems like its very far away. I am a big fan of automotive light technology, it just seems to me that BMW is not.

Ya'll are right - I did miss read it. I apologize. I'll be surprised if it has LED headlights. One thing a brand in that price range has to be aware of his how repair costs can effect insurance. Headlights are the first thing to get damaged in even a minor fender bender.

I am still amazed that the Accord went from halogen lights directly to LED, skipping the HID lights. I would imagine the Honda LED headlights will be have a lower replacement cost than the ones in the high end cars. I think Honda is setting a good trend for the auto motive industry. Laser headlights sounds like a good idea but LED is the fiture for now. BTW, I was wrong about BMW not having any LED headlights earlier in my original post, BMW does offer LED headlights in the 2013 6 series coupe.

Honestly, it's cool, but it shows how poor Honda management really is. Their "luxury" brand Acura doesn't even get LED headlights, but the Accord does first? You don't see Audi debuting their LED headlights on a Passat. They brought them out on the R8 first and now most of the lineup has them.

This makes no sense. Your F10 has LED Angel Eyes.

There is no doubt in my mind that Honda is misguided company, the whole Acura brand is mismanaged in my opinion. The Acura brand started out strong with the Legend and went downhill from there. Honda should have debut their LED on the upcoming redesign Acura RL or the new NSX.
LED headlights definitely have not been play out yet, in fact, its just starting. The technology will get cheaper and brighter. LED already last much longer than HID and consume less energy.

I agree. Not to mention, this is the first Honda/Acura product with DI also. Why isn't this tech debuting in an Acura flagship

How the mighty have fallen, Honda was once an automotive technology power house, now, old technology like DI is just being introduce by Honda and they still do not have any models with a 8 speed transmission. Maybe the LED headlight will signify a new push from Honda for new technology.

Honda is still playing catch up with most the other manufacturers. Can you say Hyundai Genesis sedan rear end on the Accord sedan!?!?!?!

the DRL angel eyes on the F10 are pretty bright. i rarely see another 550, but see a few F10's that have their DRL's on....and they are bright and attract attention in a good way. A lot of bikers complain about cars--they should be able to see an F10 with it's DRL's on!

Honda is such a train wreck right now. LED headlights and Direct Injection before debuting it in Acura products

BMW is like 4 to 5 years behind industrial leaders such as Lexus and Audi in lighting technologies. Mercedes is even further behind.

I don't agree with you. BMW does offer full LED's in the new Gran Coupe. What does Audi and Mercedes do that makes you think that? Maybe I'm missing something.

Audi and Lexus had full LED headlights since 2007, BMW and Mercedes just introduce it.
