Talking General info needed

I am new to Bimmerfest, but used it to help mt son-in-law change oil & brake disk& roter change on a 330l. I have a 2005 Z4 w/ 14050 miles, and getting ready to change oil etc for the first time. The BMW dealership did it the first 2 times. picked my Z4 up in Spartinburg SC, and got to go through the driving center. If they still do it, try it, it was amazingly fun! Anyway thoughts on type oil, filters etc would be helpful. Jacking the car up was one of my questions.

Also I have run flat tires. Would changing these be possible w/ existing wheels?

Thanks

Oil change is super easy, I bought the castrol syntec (or whatever they call it now) 5w30 and a filter from an auto parts store. dealer is stupid money. theres a little "door" in the tray under the engine and the drain plug is under that. Filter is right on the front top of the engine. Don't loose the crush washer on the drain plug. I've heard that some of the filters come with a new one, mine didn't, but it wasn't OEMm, I reused the one that was on there and no problem. Look on the DIY pages here and there are some good instructions. I havent changed oil in a car in like 20 years because i am just to lazy and didn't want to deal with the used oil, but the dealer wanted a crokus sack full of money to do the service so I broke down and did it myself. I'll probably stop taking my wife's Tahoe to quickie lube as well.

You had better go ahead and explain "crokus sack" to our Northern friends. Have not heard that expression in a while. LOL

Good one! For those that need clarification:

crocus sack, noun, Southern U.S. (chiefly South Atlantic States) a burlap bag.

Sorry I spelled it wrong in the post!
