2009 328i...good buy or goodbye?
Hello All!
I am looking at a 2009 328i coupe with sulev and was hoping to get some feedback on whether this is a good purchase. It seems to be oddly loaded. It is automatic, black on black, navigation, paddle shifters, but it doesn't have power seats? It has 49,186 miles and they are asking $25,000. It is CPO. What are your thoughts? I know the 335 has more power but I think the 328i should have more than enough. If I am looking to spend around 25k is there any other model I should be considering? I would like a coupe, and have looked into the 128i but the 328 is so pretty. ![]() I was also wondering if there are any common issues that arise with this car when it gets to around 50k miles and beyond. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thank you very much! |

A reliable car, and with sulev! We don't often see one without. A strong buy if engine power's satisfying for you. |

If it doesn't have power seats then it doesn't have the premium package, which means it's missing several other goodies. No lumbar support, no Homelink garage door opener,no leather, meaning leatherette, aka vinyl, seats.
If you want to post a link to the listing we'll take a look at it for you.

It probably doesnt have assist nor does it have bluetooth either. Your seats are also leatherette and NOT leather . If you're spending that much look into something else. |

My wife and I were in a similar situation as you.
We ended up buying a 2009 328i sedan (E90) with 24k miles for about $2k more than what you might be paying. I feel that the power is plenty especially since I have more control of my shifts (in a manual of course). I've seen a lot of people saying that the 328 is too slow, but I haven't felt that way in my car. Best of luck to you. |

OP, if the door panel trim has a seam in it then the car has leather. If the trim is smooth, with no seam, it has leatherette.

Are you thinking it does not have power seats because it was not listed in the ad, or because you went there and saw that it did not? I believe the base seats in the E92 are power, in that they have power adjustment forward-backwards and for the seat back to set the angle.

Related 2009 328i potential purchase question
Looking to upgrade from my 2001 X5 sport pkg. Have narrowed my search to 3 very different bimmers, all in the same price range, all at dealers, all clean carfax, and in outstanding condition:
1) 2006 325ci convertible, sport, premium and cold weather pkgs, xenons., only 36k miles. The car looks brand new, 1 owner. Priced at $20k plus $2500 for a third-party bumper-to-bumper warranty, $100 ded. 5 years or 115k on the odometer. 2) 2009 328i, 37k no options, basic sedan, not even power seats. Dealer I trust says it isn't CPO only because the 1 owner-lessee replaced the run flats with continentals (that look nearly-new). Still has 1 yr/13k miles left on the BMW warranty. Listed at 22k, but I think the dealer might come down a bit because of the oddity re the swapped out run-flats (the spare takes up nearly the entire trunk, likely won't appeal to picky customers). Assume for this question that I can get the price down to 20k to match the 325ci offer. 3) 2006 330ci convertible, sport pkg, xenons, leather, 63k miles, 2 owners, the dealer will essentially match the 325ci offer, but the best warranty available is only 24 months or 24,000 miles. I've driven the 325ci and the 328i. Haven't driven the 330ci yet, but i did drive an 06 330i sedan. I noticed some, but not much, difference between the 09 328i and the 06 330i. The 325ci felt a bit less quick & less low end torque than either the 06 330i or the 09 328i. I think I prefer the E90 styling and feel overall, but the convertible obviously has a fun factor, and the sport leather seats are nice--though the stock leatherette seats in the 328i were surprisingly comfortable. It seems that the lower miles and longer warranty protection clearly give the 06 325ci the edge for me, over the 06 330ci (with 62k miles and only 24 months of warranty available). The call between the 06 325ci and the 09 328i is much closer for me. Three years newer and the E90 styling versus the 06 convertible with all the bells and whistles very tough call for me. Advice? How much does the three years newer 09 over 06 matter for resell and reliability? Thanks. |

[QUOTE=alpinweiss;7004454]Remember that leather seats were also a stand-alone option ($1450, I think); no Premium Package required.
$1450 is on the money. I just looked at the window sticker that I have for my car. No premium pack, no power seats, but leather. I also have the Cold Weather package but no heated steering wheel. Was the heated wheel available with the sport steering wheel with paddles? ($100 option.)
