How to Install Sensor for 9C55

Hi Guys, recently I had the 9C55 error which is the condensation sensor that sits under the rear view mirror near the rain sensor. Bought the sensor and now I don't know how to install or what to do with the thread that came with it.

The container it comes sitting in, is that container required to installed or the sensor has to be removed and installed.

Also, what is the go with that thread (see pics).

Note - I know where the sensor goes and I have disconnected the old sensor and I can connect the new one, but the confusion is about the container and the thread.

I'm gonna take a guess about the thread -- they include that as a tool to get the old one off the windshield. Imagine taking the thread on one side and the other and pulling it back a forth and moving down to shear the old unit off the window.

Thanks, but since when has BMW cared about how you get the old part out and provided you tool to do so? They would specify in their repair to use a special BMW (in this case as per your recommendation a thread) that a customer will need to buy instead of them providing.

Has anyone bought this sensor and installed it?
