I'm a little confused why FCP (whom I've never personally dealt with) never showed up when I asked what are the most recommended brake rotor suppliers?
What rotors & suppliers are recommended for street use on the E39

Blue,
I know for a fact that FCP has had a bad reputation in the past. There was (is) a lot of controversy over their suspension components. Unfortunately, the internet being what it is, their reputation is still taking a hit. When I first thought of dealing with them, I read hundreds of negative postings about FCP. As it turned out however, most negative feedback came from people who knew someone's cousin, who's brother's sister's boyfriend had bought something.... yada yada yada. You know how it works. I actually started a thread asking for people who had 'first hand' experience with FCP and received very little mature responses. I gave them a shot and ordered some parts - small to start off with and gradually moving up to bigger items. I've placed seven ordered with FCP in the past 18 months and only once was I shipped the wrong part. They quickly (2 days transit) shipped the proper part to me with at no charge, and did not ask me to ship the wrong part back to them. Order accuracy and customer service is very high. If you check their site, you will find 'no name' and 'budget brand' parts. Their philosophy is to make parts available for all budgets. The point being is they offer a choice. I always choose the 'recommended' parts like Brembo, Lemforder etc, but it's nice to have a place to buy cheaper parts from when quality isn't as important. In short, it's my opinion that they are a company with an overstated bad reputation. Through personal experience however, I'd highly recommend them. I have neither the time or inclination to start another 'my vendor is better than yours' debate, however when people ask an opinion and receive a "Don't do it" response with no explanation, I felt the need to jump in. Cheers.... Glenn

Bailey228,
this is exactly my point. It will help a lot if we know WHY not to buy from particular vendor or WHY we should buy from other vendors. Hope to get some more suggestions. Basically I'm still trying to find out the similar performance brake kit for my '01 540iA from this link: http://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw-...9-540i-e39lbk1 and still hopping to find out if the FCPs product qualities are good. Again, I'm looking at the performance brake kit and Not the OEM standard. Hopefully someone may know a better vendor for performance brakes with drilled rotors. |
