Worth getting aftermarket warranty?
So just purchased a 2008 X3 that has been well taken care of. My question though is would it be worth getting a aftermarket warranty. I can get a bumper to bumper coverage one through my BMW dealer that I work at for $2,700. Thats good for 4 years or 100K. Plan on owning vehicle for 5 years. One major repair like a evaporator or transfer case would almost be that much so hard to say.

Those aftermarket warrantys are pretty shady. They tend to fight you every step of the way when you make a claim.

We have had great luck with the one that is being offered. No issues.

I'm a little confused. To me, it sounds like you are asking for advice on buying something you already own.

Is it a BMW warranty or a third party warranty? I'd trust BMW only.
Also, try comparison shopping at the Ask A Dealer forum here at BimmerFest, you might get a better price elsewhere (even after figuring in whatever employee discount you're getting). You can buy a BMW warranty at any dealer and prices vary. |

To be honest it's a crap shoot. I have right at 96,000 on my 2009 and the ONLY issue I've had was a heat exchanger gasket and the E-torx socket set cost more than the gasket (I changed it myself). So unless something were to go wrong in 4k it would have been a total waste of money for me.
