E82 / E88 1 Series (2008 - 2013)
BMWs throw back to the iconic 2002, with a renewed form and function. The smallest car in BMW's line up but still packs a punch. Available in coupe or convertible, powered by either an inline 6 in the 128 or the twin turbo rocket sled 135.

You'll need to code the car for the new battery.

Can you use an aftermarket battery for your BMW? Of course you can. Check out Consumer Reports for a brand that performed well in tests. I believe it was one from Auto Zone? In any case, any 12V from Walmart, Sears, Auto Zone, or whatever that fits will work!

I thought it had to be matched with the alternator and only done by the dealer, thanks

No, it just needs enough power to crank the engine.

The alternator is regulated so it doesn't overcharge the battery.

I can assure you that anything with the BMW name on it will be expensive. There are many good substitutes for OEM parts on any car. You should become familiar with them.

I tried but I was told otherwise for my 06 325i so i had to buy a battery from the dealer with a BMW sticker and it cost a lot. They said it had to match the alternator or charging rate of the battery.
