Sub project

Im starting to do a sub install that i plan on doing it all myself custom fit everything figure i make a thread and post pictures i literally started today first thing was the ports i wanted from trunk into cabin.

Starting with

2x Rockford P3's
1x Rockford 2Farad cap
1x Hifonics 1200.1D @1ohm

Also will have some custom LED work done

But here is what i did today put in two 4" ports for the subs and lights (this is a project so little at time cause its my first time doing anything like this)

Right now behind it is trunk air :P we punched out the metal which was precut by factory just used a mallet to knock it out. Then cut the carpet behind , basically not going to crazy but it will sorta look like the JL audio custom fit box look where from trunk you wont see speakers you see a wall and you will see the amp and a LED lit logo(still not sure what) custom fit so i will have 1 foot still for storage... also blue LED's that will be seen through the two ports and hopefully if it works out like i think it will it will give the cabin a nice low blue glow so im hoping

Not a big fan of blue LEDs reminds me cheap stereo in the civic. I would go with red LEDs not too bright to mach interior color LEDs in the doors rear pillars and overhead. But its just my opinion. Do u have logic 7?

So your stock amp is strong enough to push your pair of P3's?

If you guys are interested in an amp install, it's fairly easy. I would recommend an amp that has a "auto turn on/off" feature that is triggered by audio source like newer JL Amps just because it is very hard to find a remote signal wire in the 7 series. All you would need to do is run a power source from the battery, located under the jack, to the amp. Run a ground wire to a metal bolt from anywhere in the trunk to the amp. Use a "line out" converter and splice into the L7 amp harness where the subs output is and use that as the audio source input for the amp. Mount the amp securely in the trunk. Get a set of subwoofers and run it to the amp. I'm sure jkidem is more complex and cleaner install. But that's the basics.

Instead of splicing wires all you need is this bro, http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...4&postcount=51 it's a harness made by a member named Technic that plugs into the L7 harness and gives you audio inputs for your amp and also a remote wire, you can even power the floor OEM subs with an aftermarket amp using that harness

Wish I knew about this harness when I did mine. Should make the install even easier.
