Anyone have a before/after image of the H&R lowering kit?

I have that SUV feeling when driving the BMW and am thinking of lowering the car using the H&R Sport Spring set (Part #: 28999-6. front springs, rear links). They show a drop of 1.6" in front and 1.5" in rear; I like not to be too aggressive on the drop, given the poor condition of our roads here.

Has anyone else used that kit? Love to see some before/after pics before I order the springs.

I assume there is no link-only lowering kit for these cars.

Also, since this is an X-Drive, I can't use a staggered wheel setup. Has anyone used spacers for the rear? Good idea or does it cause issues with the 4 wheel drive?

CAB, I think the 22's without the drop is already good, but the drop really makes a difference.

Drop looks great, but is almost too much for our nasty Minnesota roads

Your "before" image already look lower than our 750. Wonder why?

I think the 22 inch wheels make it look a little lower than stock.

I just looked at the pics again and I agree it looks photo shopped, crappy cell phone camera I guess. I wish I had the time to photo shop pics and post them to bimmerfest.

Mine are the Sport, 1.6, 1.5
So if you think mine is too low, I'm not sure what other options you might have.

Anyone know how exactly the lowering links work? On my previous LS with air suspension, I can just modify the length on the leveling rod, twist them shorter to lower the car.(later installed datasystem controller to lower it all the way) But how does f02 rear air works? And for the front, I can just buy the h&r, and only use the front springs, right?

What I heard for MB's air suspension, it only takes half an hour to lower it with STAR lowering. Sometime I just wish BMW use either all conventinal steels or all air to make it simpler to do the lowering.

This is my first setup with non-staggered wheels (due to the x-drive) and I think our car sits definitely taller than yours. Maybe the M-Sport is already lower by default?

The drop will definitely work; I just measured the gap between the top of wheel to the fender and it's a 2 1/2" in the front and about 1 3/4" in the rear.

MB's are definitely easier to lower. I did both the software lowering and used lowering links. The third option is to install a lowering module.

The software lowering allowed you to drop up to 1" on ABC suspensions, but the S-class uses Airmatic (no springs at all). For that I used adjustable front/rear links. Links make the sensors believe that the car is taller than it actually is.

Works great, is cheap and fast to self-install.

What is different is that MB ABC suspensions lower themselves when you go faster and are at the highest when standing still, so when you drop it too much, you can get into trouble when going fast

The modules handle that in a more optimal way, but are quite expensive ($1.5k).

I think the H&R rear link is simply is shorter, non-adjustable version of the stock one.

I used links from adjustableairride.com, which make the best ones for MB (they also have the BMW ones)

The H&R sport kit comes with 2 springs for the front and links for the rear.

If you just want rear links, get the ones from adjustableairride.com.

I have never heard this before. I have xDrive and the staggered wheel setup. Currently running 275’s on the back and 245’s on front.

That's really interesting!

This is our first 4 wheel drive sedan. We were about to purchase another MB S-Class (first time with a 4matic) and their sport package setup includes non-staggered AMG wheels while the standard rear wheel drive has the staggered AMG wheels.

When inquiring about it, I was told this is due to having to match the exact wheel diameter so that the sensing electronics don't get screwed up.

Maybe that's all BS... Either way, Mercedes seems to have all non-staggered setups on their 4matics sport packages while the normal ones are staggered.

Just figured it to be the same with BMW since the 750 has the same wheels all around...

Will definitely check ito that as it offers lots more choices. Thanks!
