This may sound like a strange question, but why do some shifter stalks look different than others? I was just browsing f10's on e-bay and when looking at the interiors, I noticed that some cars have leather shifter boots with a larger "P" button. Mine has the smaller "P" button and no leather shifter boot. My car has a build date of 12/11. Does this have anything to do with it? All the cars I was looking at are 2012's.

The one with the leather boot is the sports automatic transmission (SAT) which also adds paddle shifters and more aggressive shifting (software). If you search it in the forum you will find lots of info regarding this option.
