528i swap

I just bought a 1998 528i and was told I needed to replace the water pump thermostat and radiator like usual, so no big deal. I pick it up from the shop and it's still over heating so I brought it back and now there telling me it's the head gasket, so figure I should just do a swap instead of fix that. Any ideas on what to look for or what would be a good new motor?

Well what tests were performed to indicate a blown head gasket? Did he say what he did at all? What color is your oil at the cap, is there any milkiness around there? Do you have white smoke coming out the tailpipe at all? Just things to consider first... but I'd get a proper testing done someplace else. You may just have a leak in the cooling system. Ask for pressure testing the system first and bleeding it also.

I'm not sure exactly which test they ran, but there's no milkiness around the oil and it's not any funky color, they checked for leaks and didn't find anything, thanks for the feedback I'll look into getting a second opinion
