Reset service on idrive DIY
Hello,
Because my English writhing is not so good, I make some pictures how to reset your service massages on the iDrive. 1) Turn contact on... 2) Push button A for at least 5 seconds 3) Now you can select what service point you want to have (see picture 2, I first had bracke fluid logo) 4) Push button A shortly until you find the item you want to reset.( like oil can on pic 3.) 5) Push quick button A again for at least 5 seconds to reset that menu. Finish... If somone can explain it in bether English (correct words) please be my guest.

So this should allow me to change my own oil and reset the mileage interval without going to a dealer???

Thank you I just reset my brake fluid light. It was just done 2 yrs ago and only has about 11000 miles on the current fluid. Or does anyone here think I should have it changed out again? The car computer wants you to change it every two years.

Being that the 6 series is an upscale car I would follow manufacturer's recommended fluid change at 2 years. As a precaution or an ounce of prevention it would protect you from larger major repairs later down the road. Would you go past 1 year or 15k miles before you change your motor oil ? Probably not so I would stick with changing brake fluid when recommended.

When I hold the button for 5 seconds, it shows the triangle with exclamation in the middle for a few seconds then goes back to normal. I found that when I hold it for about 10 seconds or a lil longer some wieid code comes up that doesnt look like any of the pics

Here is my DIY for resetting the oil service indicator. Check out the picture on step #6. Did you see the "RESET?" text in the screen when you tried to do the brakes? The "Service Overdue" can be reset in the same way as the brakes. Cycle around until you get to the picture of the car on a hoist. It's the "vehicle check" symbol in my DIY on step #5.

Hello, yes I reset the brake, also saw the Reset question, then I tried all combinations, holding the button until the end of the reset procedure or just press until it start to reset and ------ get shown.
The display is -15000 and not -25000. It happen after I did try to reset the service, which still show 60000 KM to go, then suddenly I got for both brakes the message that I have to exchange all brakes because they would be worn out until the plate. Very strange that all. |

Hi Yorgi, I just tried to reset my rear brake indicator, as it was 1800 miles to go and I just got them done. However, now it says -15,000 and I CANNOT get it to get off that number. Of course now the brake icon stays lit and I'm stuck.
Any help would be appreciated....thanks! |

If you are not sure you may need to pull a wheel and check the sensors yourself. The sensors will be dark green and clean if new vs gray if re-used (check out the comparison pics in my DIY) Location in the caliper (front drivers side caliper and rear passenger side) ![]() Comparison new vs old
