No luck. Guess I'm not on the Don Juan. Fingers crossed for the Integrity on the 28th.

Yes, your vehicle can be on the ship at sea for several days before they load the VINs. Keep checking your VIN using Track and Trace. Good luck.

Have you called your CA? He or she has more info than all the sites. Mine emailed me as soon as the car was in transit on boat. Remember too that BMW uses a number of cargo carriers not all under the WW family. I'm on. KLine as an example.

I emailed the dealer again this morning. I'm trying not to be a nag, but that's hard to do!

In this age of constant connectivity when most of us are checking emails constantly on our smartphones, etc. and responding immediately, I think many of us have the same expectations from our dealers, many of whom might or might not have caught up with this pace of communication...and that can be a bit frustrating, no?

Guilty as charged! I am in constant connectivity & want status updates. Over 2 weeks of "in the port of exit awaiting a shipping vessel" is too long with no updates.

From his schedule that ship will be at sea for over 3 weeks, which is about right for Europe to California.

Does anyone know what I should expect in terms of timing on updates to the website and/or 800 line? My car has been finished production since August 10th. The 800 line says it is still waiting for a ship and my CA says they won't know anything until it hits the VPC. From reading this forum, I know that is not true, but I'm just guessing she isn't familiar with how to do it (small town dealership). My VIN isn't popping up on the WW website either, so either it's still waiting or on another line. Just wondering how much the website and/or 800 line typically lag what's actually going on.

My anecdotal observation is that te 800 number updates at 8 am eastern time when there's a registered change. The exception being the departure on boat. Maybe because I'm on Kline but my CA Told me first and then the 800 number didn't register it until two days later. Then the website one day after that.

I definitely will. Unfortunately, my CA is not a source of information so I'm completely reliant on the website and 800 number. This is not a pleasant wait, to say the least.

I was commenting on how long it will take from the port to the dealership. I've done ED with cars and my F30 arrived in port on 8/20. They don't expect it will hit the dealership (a few miles from the port) until late next week. I've not seen a car arrive at that port and hit a dealer in 3 days.

![]() My CA said it would take 7-10 days to be shipped from the VDC in Oxnard to Portland and prepared for delivery. Looking at the Sept 12-14 for delivery now. Last edited by VLing; 08-24-2012 at 09:57 PM. |

I got a response this morning that my 328i had been released to a ship & is scheduled to arrive in the US on Sept 5. He didn't give the name of the ship, but this is progress!

Looks like you are also on the Oberon, scheduled to dock at Port Hueneme on 9/5. Depending on where you are, it can take a couple of days to a liitle over a week from the VDC to the dealership. Mine took about 3 days but the dealership was only about 30+ miles away. You should be able to track the Oberon once it gets close to Panama, probably in a week or so.

AndDown,
I thought his vehicle would be on the Oberon; but his profile say he is not on the West Coast. So maybe another ship. In any case, the Oberon is due in Panama on Monday. So maybe I can see it in ATS tracking range this Sunday. Getting excited again. |

I'm in NC. Nothing is showing up on the WW site as arriving in Charleston around that time, so I expect I'm on another carrier. I tried the K Line site, but don't see anything at the right time there either.

Your dealer should know the ship's name. Not sure whether Charleston is a BMW port of entry. I would check a ship going to one of the east coast ports shown below: BMW currently has three VDCs in the United States. The New Jersey VDC processes ca. 100,000 cars per year and supports 12 states. The West Coast VDC in Port Hueneme, California receives cars for the West Coast, and Brunswick, Georgia VDC receives cars destined for the southeastern United States. Another VDC is planned for the Baltimore area, which will process cars destined for Mid-Atlantic states and the Central region. Good luck! Last edited by VLing; 08-25-2012 at 08:38 PM. |
