Z4 or ...
originally I was looking into new 328i X-DRIVE, but when I was looking at it car wasn't out, BMW had 328i without X-DRIVE and I was told that it will come out in few month (and now it's available) so I thought I need to go to swapalease and get something else mean while and while looking at that something else I end up w/ Z4
) I got it for 10 month. I have to say I like this so car so much I even consider keeping it )my options are: 1) keep z4 (buy out) 2) get another car off of swapalease 3) get my 328i X-DRIVE I've had RWD cars before and I really think AWD is the way to go, that's why I'm not exactly too happy w/ Z4 in that regards. Z4 is also my only car, while I'm a single guy and have no kids for the most time it works for me, but I've had issues when roadster wasn't working for me and I end up catching ride with someone else instead (3+ people were going somewhere). car is so low, while it works for me (I even kind of like it) I live in NYC w/ all potholes and mainly in snow that's where I worry about car being low may not be a good idea, but then again if it's snowing z4 should probably stay inside of garage. I kind of dont really want to think about it, just because it snows I still want to be able to go to places.. one of the car that I was thinking to get off of swapalease is M3, but w/ M3 I'm going back to not having AWD, sucks in snow, yet much more practical in regards of amount of people can seat inside (4) + larger trunk space and performance (omg dont get me started on that) then again street post limit is 25mph, what performance?)) any thoughts?

328 is not underpowered at all, I'm talking about new I4 2.0L TT, I drove it it's right amount of power that I need M3/Sx is kind of over kill for me (less speeding tickets)) ~250hp that's my target, obviously if I'm going go w/ M3 that's almost double)) I guess what I'm really looking is somewhat a sweet spot, 328i is perfect in every way except for a price tag)) if I add a little more I can get 335i and if I add even more I get 335is i'm sorry i'm just venting (trying to make up my mind)

Sounds to me like you already decided. The 328ix is a nice car, but you will be lacking in the performance area a bit. The handling is simply not the z4.

I was (still am) considering to do European Delivery which sounds pretty exiting)) I'm thinking of going back to dealer and taking another test for that 328i X-Drive (I have to say when I've tried non X-drive version when it just came out, performance was enough for me, not to mention there are always some dinan upgrades that can be done to the car ))
and no i haven't really made up my mind yet ) i'm trying though))

Z4 is a fun car that I would not replace it with other cars. But, it is obviously not practical for many occasions. I live in New England. So, I got an X3 for mainly winter commuting, but it has been used throughout year, for such as bad weather days, transporting 3+, camping, cycling trips, and whenever Z4 is not suitable. X3 is not as fun as 328X or Z4, but gives me surprisingly smooth nice ride.

I just got out of my 328xi a month ago and I have to say that I enjoyed it a great deal. It is certainly more practical and just as much fun to drive in my opinion. I certainly wouldn't hesitate to buy another one once they come out with the coupe with the 4 cylinder TT. I don't necessarily think you have to have AWD just because you live in an area where it snows (I live in Colorado Springs) because a good set of snow tires on a RWD will get the job done equally as well. In your case I think I would consider a plain 328i once it comes out next year in coupe form. This will keep the cost down a bit over the 328xi.

I found the great balance with a 4wd. I can haul people and lots of stuff through deep snow. You can get a good quality used 4wd for less than you would likely lose in any deal you do

Keep the Z4...
I just traded in my 535xi - which I loved - but the E89 Zs are just so awesome. I had an 04 Z4 - but the new ones are just on an entirely new level of performance. |
