Hey guys,
I just bought a 1988 528e BMW and the drivers seat is all torn up on the side. I bought a seat cover to put over it but the arm rest is in the way and I can't figure out how to take it off. Can someone explain what I need to do to take it off? Thank you, Stephanie. |

Maybe this drawing will help you locate the bolts you need to remove: You mave have to position the seat all the way forward or backward, or all the way up or down to gain access to them.

There is a plastic plug to remove at the pivot point. Under that is a spring steel, thin lock nut (standard hex shape) under that a pivot spacer. Once those are removed the arm rest comes off. If the rips are large enough you can unbolt the pivot pin complete. If you wish you can bolt it back through the new seat cover. Up to you.
