Just placed in order for 2013 650i M!

After much deliberation, I finally pulled the trigger on a 2013 650i convertible. I got it for $3500 off MSRP from South Motors BMW (highly recommended, better than Braman who didn't want to give me any off MSRP and tried to convince me that 2013 was identical to 2012). I know I could've probably gotten a better deal on a 2012, but the 45hp increase and better gas mileage was well worth it for me. The two months wait actually works in my favor because Dinan should release their upgrade for 2013's by the time I get it

Wait, you ordered a car that's only a couple tenths of a second off an M6 but you're gonna add Dinan as well?
I can't imagine waiting 2 or 3 months for a car.

Absolutely! I would've preferred the M6 (who wouldn't lol), but to lease its about $2,000/month while my car is $1,300/month. I don't think M6 is worth that much more and I'm sure with Dinan chip, 2013 650i will be just as fast.

P.S. If you think 2 month wait is is long... on new Ferrari's the wait is sometimes 2 years

Good move on the 2013. I can't imagine spending any money on a 2012 at this point knowing what the 2013 has going for it (+45 hp, +30 lb-ft, soft-close, shadowline...).

Knowing that the base M6 price is only about $3k more than my MSRP made the M6 tempting, but that is the base price. Equally equipped, an M6 spec'd identical (or at least as close as possible given the packaging differences) to my 650xi is in the $115k to $120k range. As my daily driver, the options that make the price jump really fast (i.e. Exec. Pkg., 20" wheels, full LEDs, etc.) are more important to me than the M6's amazing performance and insane engineering. A stripped down 6er/M6 just seems wrong, and the luxury/tech offerings on the 6er are too good to pass up. My car will never hit a track, but I use/enjoy the fun options (that add up to the price of the average car) on a daily basis.

Welcome to the "2013 650i on order group". Unbelievable what a Bimmer sales guy will say to move a MY12. I ordered mine in late June but went the Individual route on interior/trim and that cost me an extra 6 weeks but she's coming out of production Wednesday with delivery early October. All said and done I would rather wait and order what I want instead of someone else deciding my fate.

I'm with you on Dinan, I'm doing the same with mine plus dumping the run-flats for some sticky, "real tires", as in Pilot Sports. From what I've read on the Dinan I wouldn't think the tune for the new engine will be available until sometime in Spring of 2013, maybe we'll get Santa lucky.

So go to app store and download the UltimateDrive App. Schedule a test drive from the app (you don't have to do the drive) then say you completed it. It will ask you you salesman's name and it immediately gives you a code. When you sign your lease papers u get 700 dollars for your first payment. All for 1 minute investment

Thanks. I went through it and scheduled the drive. How exactly do I get the certificate? I don't see anything on the app to get it. Does the dealer have to do anything?

So go back to app and say u competed drive. It will ask for salesman name and then hit enter and it gives code right away

Does this have to happen at time of lease signing which means I can't get the credit until vehicle #2?

You didn't go with the executive package too? There are some nice-to-haves included in that package.

I'm surprised more people don't go with aluminum trim, I think it looks great. A lot more "sporty" than wood trim, which suits the M-sport package perfectly. I didn't get the executive package, didn't feel it was worth the $4,300.

Main reason is that I dislike the soft-close doors and prefer the regular ones; they just feel weird and gimmicky and it would be annoying to explain them to every passenger (if you don't explain, they think the door didn't close and keep trying and trying again lol).

I agree on the executive package. 650i already come standard with contour seats and premium hi-fi, two items found in his package. Soft close doors and HUD isn't a big deal for me to live without, plus I'm not real fond of perforated seats. I went with the the Full Leather Merino package instead that also includes the leather dash/doors and contrast stitching.

This is the main reason I would take the Exec Pkg on a 2013 - or do as you did with the Merino. I adore my HUD, so taking it away would require removing it from my cold, dead hands.

I think the Aluminum is underutilized/undervalued on the 6er. I agree with its sportiness, but I think it looks very luxurious in the brochure pics where it is paired with the Ivory Nappa, Black Nappa with Ivory Stitching, and the Aluminum from the B&O system. I preferred the overall dark look of the Gray Poplar since I went with the full Black Nappa with the anthracite Alcantara headliner and black ceramic controls, but I think I would have gone for the aluminum with ivory or vermillion.

I think a lot of people relate aluminum trim to "cheap luxury cars" (like the C-Class) where it is often the least expensive/standard trim option. In the 6er, the aluminum doesn't look anything like the cheapo aluminum used in lesser cars. Idk if it is the quality of the trim, the quantity of it, or the way it is designed for the car, but it looks befitting of a $100k coupe, IMO.

The 2013 650 comes standard with the premium stereo, so the executive pkg does not come into play with it. But I think it's worth it - between the HUD, full leather dash, ventilated seats, soft close doors, rear power sunshade, BMW apps & ceramic controls the $4300 price is cheaper than the same stuff on a 2012( without the soft close)
