Randomize music on hard drive

Hi, I am not sure if anyone else faces this problem or whether it has been discussed before but here it goes. I copied music from my flash drive to the X3 hard drive. The music shows up in a USB folder and plays in the same order as it is stored. I can play the songs randomly by going to options and clicking "Random" but have to do it every time I start the car. Is there a way to permanently check the randomize option?

On all other BMW's I have owned with the random option the last option chosen was retained when the engine was switched off. However the X3 defaults back to non random which I find irritating. Tracks are played in alphabetic title order on the hard drive if all tracks are chosen.

The random function also goes away if you hit the scroll button on the steering wheel. The only way to go to the next song and keep it random (without turning the auto off) is to hit the next button on the head unit. Stupid design. My 2007 Honda CRV (which I traded in for the X3) kept it random when I pressed the next button on the steering wheel.
Is it me or weren't the buttons on the steering wheel meant to help you keep your eyes on the road and hands on the wheel? Dumb design flaw on BMW's part.
