Just in case you need your E46 extricated from a hillside, here's a trick I learned
Dunno how many of you are dumb enough (as I was) to plow into a hillside on these one-lane windy wet mountain roads ... but ...
But, just in case ... a lesson to note is that you should not use the tow hook when pulling the car laterally (according to the tow-truck operator). The right way, I'm told, to extricate sideways is to strap cloth onto the wheel using a tow strap. More details here - but I post for you E46 guys so that you might benefit from what the tow operator knew in case you're in a similar situation.
