Any updates on the flashing guide? I think I figured out how to do this TAL Execution process but would feel better if there was a guide.

@falcongeek; In looking at your SVT, I do not recognize two ECU's.

Can you tell me the CAFD Names for both your HC2 and TCB modules?

Any updates on publishing this?

I have my dedicated laptop done and ready now - all loaded with 47.4. Took a lot longer than I expected, but finally have a machine that I do not need for anything else but coding my F10.

Yes, the first draft looked excellent, but it was written specifically for KOMBI and lacked one key part of the process. While KOMBI as an example is fine, I want the guide to be broadly written so any ECU can be flashed. So, it is being updated now, and when ready, I will ask 2-3 people willing to flash KOMBI or CIC to follow the Guide, and make sure it is understandable, and complete in all the required steps, issue free. If it is, it will make its way to the Coding 101 Post #1.

I'm keen to get the 'HUD display options for tel/ entertainment' working in my MY2012 F10. Seems too good a feature to miss !

This worked for me on my '13 F10 M5. Amazing addition - and I can't understand why it wasn't there before. The un-selectable checkbox in HUD settings is a bit annoying, but hopefully that is rectified at some point.

Fantastic. I can't wait to get this if BMW could be bothered to ship my car back from Europe.

Guys -

Just checking in here - is this doable on a early build 2012?

Aceman, you asked and I answered this very question above in Post 21:

This would be a HUGE usability improvement IMO, i would wrank it up there with the TPMS activation

Ok. Finally, thanks to user sibob's persistence in getting me to help him flash his KOMBI, his willingness to be the Guinea Pig, and his documentation skills, I have a working DIY ECU Flashing Guide, ready for test.

In an nutshell, the process is to create an SVT Current file with the current ECU State (e.g. 46.x firmware), an SVT Target with the desired ECU State (e.g. 47.5 firmware), and a TAL, which will compare the two and Flash ECU from its Current state to the Target state.

That said, the process for creating SVT Target is manual and tedious for now. I think it can be automated by using the Integration Levels, although I can't do any testing of that as I have 47.7 on my car, and I am using 47.5 PSdZData. So, until there is actually newer firmware than 47.7 and I have that PSdZData, I can't test anything flashing related.

So, I am looking for about 3 or 4 testers, but the skittish need not apply.

You should have a battery charger, and a good understanding of E-Sys, and little or no fear of trashing your ECU if things go horribly wrong, in which case I am not at all responsible. Test at your own risk. What is documented works if correctly followed and executed.

If you are interested in testing, PM me with your email address.

don't work for me

I coded on my 2013 550xd the Kombi 3000 with

Section 3000
- HUD_ENTERTAINMENT_ENABLE to aktiv (enables radio menu)
- HUD_TELEFONANRUF_ENABLE to aktiv (enables recent calls list to be displayed)
and in HU-NBT Section 3000
- HUD_ENTERTAINMENTLIST

but it doesn't work.
Maybe because i have option S6WBA Multifunctional instrument display?
Same ist the turn-signal in HUD. it doesn't work.

On yours with 6WB, does the iDrive checkbox under the settings -> Heads Up Display -> Displayed Information menu for "Entertainment/Telephone" work, and did you select it?

Is the 6WB ECU still called KOMBI?

What is the name of your CAFD file?

I've got some things coded like Digital speed. see attachment.
I have no

In order to get these to work the following options in the KOMBI module need to be coded:

Section 3000
- HUD_ENTERTAINMENT_ENABLE to aktiv (enables radio menu)
- HUD_TELEFONANRUF_ENABLE to aktiv (enables recent calls list to be displayed)

There is an additional setting for HUD_TELEFONBUCH_ENABLE that should enable the full contact list to be displayed, but it didn't seem to do anything (it may be that it is either the recent calls or the full phone book can be displayed, but not both, however I am just speculating as I have not tried this).

There is one more setting in the HU_NBT module under section 3000 for HUD_ENTERTAINMENTLIST. When this is set to active a checkbox will appear under the settings -> Heads Up Display -> Displayed Information menu for "Entertainment/Telephone" however the checkbox cannot be selected. Although the box can't be selected, the HUD still shows the screens. I have a 2013 F10 which replaced the HU_CIC module with the HU_NBT module. The option for HUD_ENTERTAINMENTLIST may be in the HU_CIC, but I am unable to verify.

I have attached a few pictures of this working in my car, but as always try/use at your own risk.

I have the top 2 versions in my 2012 namely the Hud Entertainment and the HUD Telefonaruf...but they don't work. I dont't seem to have something in the HU_CIC

Does your CIC have 47.x or newer firmware?

Shawn,

Did anyone ever take you up on the test group? I think I'll give it a try if you want to send me the instructions.

Well, I sent it out to 4 people. Only one that I know of has actually attempted it, and he ran into some unknowns, which I think we are past now. He is supposed to be doing another attempt, this week I believe, and he is updating the Guide at the same time. I expect that will be ready very soon. As soon as it is ready, I'll send you his updated one to test, and if you think it is complete and easy to follow, we will publish it for all after that.
