Should I put the ///M Emblem on my X6 2013 with M Performance package?
Hello,
I don't know if I repeated the post or not if I do please don't be offended. I am about to order my X6 2013 with the ///M Performance package and I've been contemplating really bad to put the ///M emblem on the back of the trunk or not? What would you do? As many replies as possible please! Would it look tacky because it's not the really ///M ? |

Probably not, because its gonna look like you wanted the ///M but ran out of money and just slapped on a badge, also the exhaust will give it away. Another problem is if you get beat off the line and the other guys starts bashing the ///M division even though he didn't really beat a true ///M

Whats YOUR reasoning for wanting to do that? Personally, I think its a major error and looks ridiculous but thats me. If you look at various different BMW boards, you'll see hundreds of threads with pics of so called poseurs who put M badges on non M cars. Most other BMW enthusiasts arent too fond of that but again, it's your car. Still curious why you would want to do it though.

1000% NO. Anyone who knows BMWs will just point and laugh at you, and those who don't know BMWs don't understand the significance of the M badge anyway.

Might as well put a //AMG badge on it..., makes as much sense IMHO

Universal No. Too me it is no difference than buying a 35 and putting on the 50 badge. Just buying an option package doesn't make it a M.

Yes, definately. With a Ferrari badge right below it.

Please don't.
I am one of the enthusiasts that hates when I see this. I've even got my wife noticing it now on Beemers and Benzes! The M badge should only be on an M model, with the exception of the new M Performance cars like the X6 M50d which aren't available in the states at this time. Even those get debated, but they come from the factory that way and M is part of their name. Nowhere in an X6 35i or 50i is there an M in the model designation. The M performance package is essentially a sport package. With the X6, you don't even get the same body kit that the X6M comes with, unlike the 5 and 6 series which share a lot more in their M Sport version body kits to their M counterparts. I've been driving an SLK300 with an AMG sport package for 3.5 years, it came with the same body kit and wheels as the SLK55 AMG. I would never be caught dead with an AMG badge on it, although I've seen plenty of people do it. As others have said, you won't fool an enthusiast and a non-enthusiast doesn't know the difference. The way I see it, that's the downside, and the only upside is what? You feel good that you have an M Sport package? I don't get it. It would be interesting to see your response to previous posts which have inquired about your reasoning for wanting to do this. Anyway I say don't do it. I might be biased though, as I just put in my order for a 2013 X6 ///M this morning

NO!!! you have the M package but it is NOT an ///M. Like already stated on here, any BMW savvy person will know it's a fraud. The ///M has no fog light, distinct exaust, has an M button and produces 555HP UNMODIFIED.
Might as well put a Ferrari badge too while you're at it Last edited by BayerischeNJ; 12-01-2012 at 07:17 AM. |

If it should have had a M badge, BMW would have done so from the factory.

No, that would be inappropriate. It has some M accessories, but it is not an X6M vehicle.

Ha I just realized this post was originally made in June ... OP has been MIA since then. Hopefully this thread will help others who are pondering the same thing.
