2012 F10 Standard Stereo Speaker Locations

Hey gang.

I can't seem to figure out where all of my "10" speakers are in my 2012 F10. It has the standard stereo system, and here is the description from the website:

"Anti-theft AM/FM stereo/CD audio system with Auto-Store, FM diversity antenna system, MP3 capabilities, and 10-speaker, multichannel high-fidelity sound system incorporating an analog amplifier with 180-watt output power. The system includes 3 tweeters, 5 midrange speakers and one central bass speaker located under each front seat."

I can only account for the following:

1 ? - center dash
2 bass? - driver and passenger doors
2 tweeters - driver and passenger doors
2 ? - back dash

I've put my hand below the seat when cranking the bass, but feel no rumble what so ever, so I don't believe I have anything under the seats as mentioned on the BMW site. The driver and passenger doors seem to be producing the most bass.

If anyone has a PDF or other BMW document illustrating where the "10" speakers are supposed to be, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks,
Ron

Never mind, I found the 2 bass speakers under the seat. They just don't produce a lot of bass.

typically there are multiple speakers in one location and they claim it as additional speakers.

I have a standard system as well, and can adjust it to provide more than enough bass. Have you adjusted tone in your system using iDrive?

Yeah, I've adjusted the tone to get enough bass. At first, I thought all of the bass was coming from the small speakers in the doors. Last night I moved the driver's seat all the way forward and listened to the floor. I can actually hear the bass coming from there now.

I wanted to find all of the speakers so I could research replacing them with better ones. Turning up the bass in the tone setting causes the speakers to "frog" a bit when the volume is cranked.

As it turns out, now I know where all of the speakers are. And I also did some research on replacing them. Not sure I'll do anything right now though. More expensive than I thought it would be.

Thanks for the replies.

And god help you so you won't have to recalibrate the seats now that you moved them.

Brittlewood, I didn't even consider simply adding a subwoofer in the truck.

Connections are already there? Any advice on where to look for them without tearing up my seats?

Any suggestions on an affordable solution to give me that extra low end and still work with the other existing speakers and amp?

Thanks!
Ron

facing the trunk, the amp is on the left wheel well and the battery is to the rightnext to the wheel well. the best approach is to tap into one of the woofer pair of wires, run the signal thru a lo/hi level signal converter and then add to a mono amp (i am using Hifonics Brutus). Power can be connected directly to the amp in the trunk and the turn on signal can be tapped into the radio lead. the output from the radio is quite clean and will produce enormous bass
