Question 525i heating system sends off burning smell

my 2005 525i 75Kmi. soon after starting emits a burning electrical smell within 10 min. If i turn off the entire heat/a/c system it stops. After a few min return on power to a/c and heat/vent it goes away. But this cycle goes on every time.I am afraid of having a fire inside the engine compartment. Help any ideas whats going on ?

I had a similar issue: burning smell through AC/heater about 5-10 mins and seemed that it was stopping afterwards, sometimes will come back for a jiffy.
Now, not sure if this will be the same for you, but in my case I had to replace the valve gasket. There was a small drip of oil on a hot cover/shield and the smell was travelling nice inside and made me think the same: something is burning out there
