Messed up my shifter

I just finished installing new shifter bushing and putting car back together. I must of installed something wrong because neutral sits were 5th should be. Does anyone know what I screwed up so I can fix it?

Gooby you were 100% right the shifter was backwards. I turned it around and all the gears are where they should be. Thank you

You aren't the first to do that, and you won't be the last. It's always kinda funny to hear the reaction when the installer realizes what they did wrong. So simple, yet so easy to do wrong.

I do not have pictures from when the shift lever was backwards. So I took some pictures with the shifter about where it was when it was backwards.

If the PO installed the shift lever backwards like I did it would make the shifter sit towards 5th. I have attached a picture of the shifter linkage with the part you need to rotate circled. To rotate, first remove the shifter knob, leather boot under it and the foam under that. Next pull up the rubber boot so it is no longer siting in metal circle. Then crawl under the car and remove the two clips on the selector rod. Now remove the selector rod and rotate the shift lever. Before you put every back together I would put the leather boot and shifter knob loosely on with selector rod installed without clips to see if the slither is where it should be.
