Has anyone else noticed...(0-60)

The 28i 0-60 time is sub 6 seconds?

Had a blast on the track after getting through the break in period!

Using V-Power gasoline I managed 0-60 in 5.8 seconds vs. the advertised 6.4 seconds.

I broke it down frame by frame with a time stamp using software on my PC then uploaded to my Photobucket.

Take a look. (BTW - I apologize for the watermark but I didn't want to buy a time stamp and video editor software just for this video)

FYI - I have the xDrive28i M-Sport driving at 72 ft. above sea level on flat ground at a private track. Air temperature was 56 deg F and humidity was 34%. Do not attempt on public roadways!!!

Nope but I didn't think there was any on the X1?

Am I missing something?

Can anyone vouch for the accuracy of the speedo? Great acceleration none the less.

Speedometer reads 3-4 MPH too high in my X1. So you probably measured 0 to 56.

CIWS 0-60 YouTube video using the Speedo was about 5.2 seconds. Videos are also hard to get the first foot of roll. I'm waiting for some good tests as well for actual numbers..

Here's the problem with the motor trend video...what fuel were they using? What was the air temperature, humidity and elevation? These factor in more than you would think...especially on turbos where they are sucking in so much air.
How heavy is the driver...how full was the tank?

The 1/4 mile speed seems off in that video too. Almost 15 seconds to 91 mph?? I got to 100 on the speedo in under 14.

Obviously they have better gear and equipment to measure such things than I do but I suspect my performance is still under 6 seconds.

This just means I need to take it back to the track with some better measurement methods!

Most of the magazines use Racelogic VBox GPS data loggers. Kind of pricey, however.

I thought this was a good video. The asterisks on this one are: 1. It's a 35i Xdrive. 2. It's Colorado at near a mile above sea level.

I think a sub 6 second 0-60 time is possible with summer tires, warmer temps, and lower elevation.

I have the performance summer tires.

By the way, colder denser dryer air is better than warmer temps. The why lower elevation is better, denser air. More oxygen molecules per fixed volume.

Their theory is that with higher elevation, there's less air/oxygen than at sea level. So your 0-60 times are slower.

I meant like foot on the brake and bring it up to 4K RPM then go.

It's like reducing boost on the turbo

I believe my 0-60 time is close to or under 6 secs, but I have the BMS Stage 1 tune. I just don't think the stock 28i is capable of under 0-60 6 secs aside from wishful thinking. 6.3 is still quite respectable. The F30 328i's I have driven are significantly quicker to 60 than the X1.
