How to turn on automatic dipping of pass mirror when revesrse engaged?

Hi,

My car does not dip the passenger mirrow when reverse is engaged?

Is this possible to add with coding? My guess is that it is as the motor that moves the mirror is there and I can 'manually' dip the mirror using the controls.

If anybody knows, please let me know how

Thanks

Thanks but I'm fully aware how it works if your car has this function, my car hasn't got the function.

That is why I am asking if it is possible to add the function with coding.

If you have the mirror control switch in the right position and it isn't working, I suggest taking it to your dealer.

My belief is that in the UK you only get the auto dipping if you pay for the electrically folding mirrors option which my car doesn't have.

Hence the question regarding coding.

If you do not have the necessary hardware, no amount of coding will get you the function.

The folding mechanism and the viewing angle adjustment mechanism are two seperate controls. You can get the car in some areas that don't hve the electronic folding mechanisms. Since the backup dipping of the passenger side mirror would technically only require the viewing angle adjustment mechanism, I believe he should be able to code it. Take a look at this thread and try playing around with the code suggested there.

As a point of curiosity (for those posters from the UK who have this option) does the mirror dip when the selector is toward the right or the left?

Thanks

The mirror is supposed to dip when the selector is to the right (ie drivers side).

@A900ss

Can you check the status of:

FRM> 3020 FRM_SPIEGEL_PARAMETER, 10>ASP_BORDSTEINAUTOMATIK

Is it aktiv?

Wasn't "aktiv" here (I don't have the Bordsteinautomatik / automatic mirror dipping either).

Changed it to aktiv, but apparently that didn't do the trick yet. Any other parameter that may be required? Can't be the hardware, as any electric mirror should have this function, right?

Anybody got this function working yet?

I activatet the function at

FRM> 3020 FRM_SPIEGEL_PARAMETER, 10>ASP_BORDSTEINAUTOMATIK

but it doesn´t work.

Also changing the Value at

FRM>3020 FRM_SPIEGEL_PARAMETER, 10>ASP_BORDSTEINAUTOMATIK_DELTA>Werte=3B to 5A as recommanded in the thread mentioned above doesn´t change anything.

Somewere during coding this function there is a remark, that this function works with electric memory seats only (in Germany the "Bordsteinautomatik" ist standard with electric memory seats and/or automatc dimming of the internal and external mirrors - I don´t have any of theese features). Maybe I have to code the existance of the electric memory seats - but where do I find this.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Is there anyone who could enable the mirror dip on a F10 without powered folding mirrors?

Someone who doesn't have it needs to try adding option 430 to FA & CODE the entire car. only then we will know..

Well, I think coding this function is not possible. Article numbers of the standard mirrors and those with auto dimming, electric folding and/or memory seats are all different. I found some hints that standard mirrors are wired regulary and the others by LIN-BUS (but didn´t check it).
On cding options you find:
3020 FRM_SPIEGEL_PARAMETER, 10
….
ASP_LIN_SPIEGEL
LIN_Spiegel verbaut / nicht verbaut
….
My standard mirrors are coded with "non active" where as a guy in Germany with side view and auto dimming mirrors has them "active"
Probably you would have to buy new mirrorbodys and the LIN-Bus for wireing at least.
