Listen to that Exhaust - F80 M3 Testing on the Nurburgring

The turbochargers on the next generation M3 don't seem to be dampening the sound of the F80 M3 as it rockets out of the carousel at the Nurbergring! The F30 based, F80 M3 is powered by an inline 6 cylinder twin turbocharged engine believed to be based on the N54 architecture. Power is significantly bumped to the 450hp range with torque to match. A lighter and more technical chassis will help put the power down and boost performance over the outgoing E9x M3.

We're still a year out at least from the M3 launch but this video gets my heart pounding for a next generation M3. Who else is anticipating the new M3 and perhaps thinking it will be their next new BMW?

I'm still having a hard time warming up to a turbocharged M3 like the 335is. The lack of smooth throttle response is what I dislike about my 335is and most cars with turbos. The smooth consistent acceleration really makes our M3 and my Porsche 911 GTS much more natural and enjoyable to drive.

The jury is still out and time will tell when the new M3 goes on sale.

Sounds like a Nissan 350Z to me, that's not a good thing.

I haven't read many complaints about the 1M's throttle response. The only thing disappoints me is the sound and lower revs of a turbo car.

Based on what I'm hearing, I'd rather have a V8.
