The new to the US BMW X1 will arrive at BMW dealers in the fall of 2012 as a 2013 model year. Get your X1 28i with either sDrive (RWD) or xDrive (AWD) or get the US exclusive I6 N55 powered X1 35i dDrive. |

X1 more like E90?
Last Saturday I visited my dealer to test drive an X3 and also to sign lease papers on a 2013 335i X drive (European Delivery 9/15/12). There were two X1's in front of the showroom.
I test drove both the X1 and X3 and really liked the handling on the X1. It reminded me more of my present E90 (same steering) rather than the new 2013 F30 which will replace it. The X1 though is much lower than the X3 and more like a hatchback version of an E90 than an SUV. I will soon be replacing a Nissan Rogue and started thinking about the X1 rather than the X3. It is difficult to get good spec information on the BMW U.S. web site (International site somewhat better http://www.bmw.com/com/en/newvehicle...oom/index.html ) Car and Driver lists the ground clearance as 7.6 inches, about the same as a Honda CRV and Toyota Rav4; not exactly for off road but adequate for Vermont where I live. The X1 wheelbase is less than the new F30, but identical to the E90, with the same steering feel If anyone knows the luggage compartment floor dimensions with the rear seats up, I would appreciate the information. I would hope that it would be about the same as the E90, but of course with a height advantage. The X1 is made in Germany, so for me if I decide on it an added bonus would be the availability of European delivery which is not an option with the X3.

i had a 328xi for many years, now driving a x1,
the x1 drives more smootly even if it is a SUV. i find the drive much more comfortable specialy on uneven paveway. much less bumpy. the x1 is easier to get in and for me this is the bigger difference. if you remove your driver, it will accept the golf cart and the golf bag same as the 328. happy driving hi hi hi |

I came from the 535i xDrive instead, but this has been my experience with the X1 as well.
