e39 shimmy

My 2000 540i has developed a shimmy @ 45mph..originally did it when first driving in the am.
Now seems to be all day.
Tires are all balanced.
Is there an ongoing suspension bushing / lower control arm issue I should be aware of?

167,000 miles on the car..all else is great.

any thoughts would be appreciated.

I am new to the marque but old with foriegn cars.

Control arm bushes are shot. at that mileage fit new arms (with ball joint) if they haven't been done below.

If you search for shimmy you find lots of threads, how to and recommendation on the best arms to buy etc.
An e39 is like a beautiful wife, needs constant attention, lots of money, lets you down at the worse times but you’d never be without it.

Not sure if the thrust arm bushings on the 540 are liquid filled but they are on the I6. Check them for a leak. you have classic symptoms.
