parking sensors

Hi everybody, does anyone know why the parking sensors on my X5 work sometimes then don't? Thanks.

turn ignition ON, press the button, run outside and listen to the sensors, the ones that click are working

but the one that doesnt click click click is not working

I can confirm this method works a treat but please be aware you have to put your ear right up to the sensor to hear the clicking . It clicks like a gas cooker trying to ingnite. The ones that dont click are your faulty sensor.
To check the back sensors incase any of them are the faulty ones you obviously need the reverse gear selected. Car only needs ignition key over to second position so doesn't need to be running.
They work like Xmas tree lights so only need one faulty to effect the system working correctly.
I just found my one faulty sensor last week on my X 3 by using this method . 1x New sensor from eBay 21 later and problem solved!!

Hi, thanks for the info. The issue that I have is ......the sensor system works one minute then it stops working and so on.

Sounds like one of your sensors has an intermittent good/bad connection.
I would suggest you try the sensor sound test at a time when it is not working and see if this can pinpoint if it's one particular sensor that's causing the problem.
