2001 X5 Radiator fan problem
Hey guys,
I searched on Google prior to posting on here, but couldn't find exact details on my situation. I have a 2001 X5 and it just recently developed problems with the radiator fan. It would stop spinning when the car stops, which would cause hot air to blow in. How would I be able to fix this issue? Also, I have had problems with the A/C not flowing out of the front vents for almost a year now. I have just left that problem as is, but now I'm wondering if it could be fixed without having to bring it back to the dealer. Thanks guys! |

Is your fan clutch working properly? You can test it in the morning when the engine is cold. Roll up a newspaper and if you can stop the fan with it, the fan clutch is good. Otherwise, it's bad and need to be replaced before the fan propesling itself out of its place.

I'm sorry I made a mistake. The fan completely does not spin and I would like to check if it is the fan or the module that powers it. Thanks!

Which fan are you referring to? If you have an automatic, it has TWO fans. An engine driven cooling fan (connected via a viscous/fluid filled clutch) and an auxillary fan in front of the radiator.
The aux fan takes inputs from several sources (AC system pressure, engine speed, etc). It's a variable speed fan.

Aux fan won't spin if AC pressure is too low. Check your refrigerant amount first.
