E82 / E88 1 Series (2008 - 2013)
BMWs throw back to the iconic 2002, with a renewed form and function. The smallest car in BMW's line up but still packs a punch. Available in coupe or convertible, powered by either an inline 6 in the 128 or the twin turbo rocket sled 135.

What did you drive before your 1 series?

In reverse chronological order
'09 128i
'00 328i ( I would probably still have it today if it weren't for that deer that jumped out in front of me)
'87 VW Jetta (85 HP when it was new, when it was 20 years old I was able to top it out at 104 mph :-P)
'03 MINI Cooper S, 200 HP JCW ( still have it in the garage )
'78 MGB (drove it for 3 months and have more stories about this car than anything else I've ever owned. I miss it dearly.)
'88 VW Jetta
'88 VW Jetta ( a different one )
'82 Buick LeSabre (bought it for $10, and it ran great. Some old lady just "wanted it out of her garage" after her husband passed. Sold it two years later to a good friend for $100, it was still running great).
'78 Buick LeSabre 2-door (f-ing classy ride)

Being an old guy I've had dozens of cars, probably. My first car was a 1959 MGA fixed head (coupe). The car I got rid of just prior to the 128i cabriolet I have now was a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire Limited Coupe. In between was everything from Jeeps to full size sedans from Ford, Chevy, Etc. Even had a Peugeot 504 station wagon. Oh, and I also currently own a 2012 BMW R1200RT in midnight blue metallic. Looks great in the garage next to the Le Mans blue 128.

Yeah, old guy. First car was a 1960 TR3 Triumph, the first of a string of Triumphs. Then the Sunbeam Alpine. Beautiful car! My latest was a beautiful '98 328 convertible (notice the rag top theme... I won't admit to what I drove when I was married - not married now!) that I loved for many years. Zero problems until it passed that 200,000 point. After that, well, I started thinking that it might be time even though it has probably another 100,000 in it. Now I'm a 128 man. The 1er is so quiet in comparison! It's amazing how many 1 series cars I DON'T see! Almost never - we need more of us!

You characters must keep the new and used car dealers happy!

I always keep cars at least 6 years or longer. I believe the longest period of ownership was 10 years. I often notice that BMW owners have owned multiple editions of the brand over the years. In one case, I spotted an owner with 15! This leads me to the question if BMW owners are so happy with their cars, why do they keep trading?

When I have a car I really like, I end up keeping it much longer than I should. Of all the cars I have owned, my favorite was a 1987 Toyota Corolla FX16. Fortunately, I currently have two cars I believe I can enjoy forever!

Yeah, no argument here on the Fiat 128. It didn't even have a tach, if I remember correctly, you just shifted when it ran out of what little steam it had. Died horribly of self disgust at 70k miles. Even still, the most fun car I ever drove...when it would drive.
